He was referred to Amritsar Medical College after being treated at a government hospital in Jalandhar. His daughter died on 9 May upon reaching Amritsar. After the daughter's demise, when she asked for help from the people for the last rites, everyone refused. No one came forward to shoulder Dileep's daughter's bier. In such a situation, the dead body of Dileep daughter was lifted on her shoulder and taken to the crematorium.
