Gary Lineker is quickly to current his first Match of the Day since his row with BBC bosses over his condemnation of presidency coverage and rhetoric on asylum-seekers.

With the episode having intensified scrutiny of BBC bosses, the National Union of Journalists has warned that religion within the broadcaster’s director-general Tim Davie “is at an all-time low” – as journalists staged a walkout over proposed cuts to native radio.

It follows outrage inside the Conservative ranks on the BBC’s climbdown over Mr Lineker, which noticed the company apologise order an unbiased evaluation of its social media pointers.
