In view of the outbreak of Corona, the union has suggested to reduce the working hours. Bank unions are concerned about the safety of their employees amidst increasing cases of COVID across the country.

Finance Ministry urged to reduce the working hours of banks

In the coming days, the difficulties of bank customers can increase. In view of the outbreak of Corona, the union has suggested to reduce the working hours. Bank unions are concerned about the safety of their employees in the growing cases of COVID-19 across the country. Bank unions have asked the Finance Ministry to take measures to protect bank employees. Bank unions have told the Ministry that measures such as reduction in working days of banks and allowing branches to work with minimum staff can be taken.

The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), an organization of nine unions, said in a memorandum to Financial Services Department Secretary Devashish Panda that all bank branches and establishments are potential ‘hotspots’ of the spread of the transition. In such a situation, there is a need to take some security measures for them. Apart from this, the union has also suggested to reduce the working hours. The same thing was done last year.

At least the employees should be instructed to call

UFBU said, we request you that all banks should be instructed to call minimum staff in branches / offices. For the next four to six months, work with one-third of the employees, work from home, ie work from home should be implemented. Staff officers should be called in turn to prevent infection.

The union has demanded that the bank workers be vaccinated on priority basis. This will increase the confidence of bank employees.

The union said that instead of opening all the branches at many centers, their number should be limited. Banking facilities should be extended to select branches. It will not necessarily need to open all branches and will ensure the safety of bank employees and customers from contagion.
