However, opposition parties have severely criticized this price. He says that when the vaccine is being made available to the Center at Rs 150 per dose, there is no point in taking more money from the states. Speaking to a news channel, SII Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Adar Poonawala said that after the initial 10 crore dose contract is over, the central government will also be charged at the rate of Rs 400 per dose.

Now the Center will also get a vaccine of 400 rupees

He said, “Let me make it clear that the price is not different. The price for all governments for new contracts will be 400 rupees only. ”Poonawala said that the previous price was the starting price. A lot of things were not clear at that time. It was not even known whether the vaccine would work or not. This was the ‘risk-sharing price’, which was agreed to supply a limited quantity. He said, “Now the vaccine is licensed and it is also very effective. Therefore, we have announced these prices based on the new policy of the government.

100 million doses produced by July

Poonawala also said that SII will be able to increase the production of COVID-19 vaccine of Astrogenka-Oxford University by July to 100 million doses monthly. The company said, “… given the current situation, it is challenging to supply it independently to each corporate entity.” We will urge all companies and private individuals to take the vaccine from the state machinery and private health system. “The statement said that the vaccine will be more freely available after 4-5 months.
