Income tax website will not work between June 1-6.
Currently, income tax returns are being filed for the financial year 2020-21. According to the information, the Income Tax Department will launch a new e-filing website in June. After the new website is launched, the old website will not work. All the tax related work can be done on the new website. According to the PTI, the current income tax website will not work between June 1-6.
It is believed that the new income tax website will be more users friendly. Apart from this, filing tax returns here will be easier than before. It has also been reported in the notification released on May 20 on the current income tax website (https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/home). It says that keeping in mind the transition to the new system, this website will not be available to taxpayers between June 1-6. In the Budget 2021, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said that now for the ease of taxpayers, information from income from other sources will come in advance. Along with this, they should not have any problem in filing self-returns, it will be tried continuously.
What will be the new website address
The URL for the current website of the Income Tax Department is www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in which will be changed to www.incometaxgov.in from 7th June. Tax department officials have been asked not to accept any taxpayer’s compensation hearing before 10 June. Overall, the tax authorities have been told to either complete the tax hearing by 31 May or give time to any taxpayer after 10 June.
24792 crore refund issued this financial year
With the help of e-filing portal, taxpayers submit their returns and also process for compensation and refund if needed. In the midst of the Corona crisis, the Income Tax Department has so far issued a refund of Rs 24,792 crore to 1.5 million taxpayers for the financial year 2021-22. Of these, 14.98 lakh individual taxpayers have been issued a refund of 7458 crore while there is a corporate tax refund of 17334 crore. It has been issued to 43661 corporate taxpayers.
