Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of stock brokerage company Zerodha, used to work in call centers. He also gave up studies at the age of 14. But with the elder brother, he made a special existence by launching a brokerage company.

Nikhil Kamath

Who would not know Nikhil Kamath, the co-founder of Zerodha, the country’s largest stock brokerage company. He is counted among the top rich of India, but do you know that there was a time when he used to work in a call center and he got only 8 thousand rupees salary. This was mentioned in the information recently shared on the Facebook page of Humans of Bombay.

In the post, the historical journey of Nikhil’s success was told. It was written how Nikhil was not much interested in traditional studies since school days. Therefore, he had decided to enter the business world at the age of just 14 years.

In the post, Nikhil wrote, “Dad was in the bank, so he was often transferred. When I was 9 years old, we finally got settled in Bangalore. Then I hated school because nobody told you why you should study, why you should not do anything else. You should only do this. Such things are put in the minds of children right from the beginning. ” Nikhil did not agree with the traditional schooling, so he gave up studies at the age of 14 during the board exams.

Used to sell phones

He told that at the age of 14, he used to buy and sell used phones. They used to do this work secretly from their families. But when his mother came to know about his business, he did not allow her to work and threw her phone in the toilet. “
Parents were upset about leaving studies

His parents were angry when he left school. Because he felt that his decision was not right. Nikhil said in the post, “All my parents said, don’t do anything that embarrasses us so much!” He had the misconception that I was smart – I was good at mathematics, used to play chess. “

Start with a job of 8 thousand

Kamath had no strategy after leaving school. In such a situation, he got his first job at the age of 17. It was a call center job. In this, he used to get a salary of 8 thousand rupees. He used to work in it from 4 in the evening to 1 in the night. At the same time, he used to try his hand in trading in the morning. He said, “Around 18, I started trading the stock properly. Dad gave me some part of his savings and said, manage it. After that, I told my manager about money management in the call center. They trusted me and invested money. Later other colleagues also increased their participation in it.

He also said, I did not go to work for a day, but my attendance at the office continued. Not only this, I also got encouragement because I was managing the money of the whole team! “

Zerodha started leaving the job in the year 2010

Kamath told that he quit his job to start Kamath Associates with his elder brother Nitin Kamath. In the year 2010, he launched Zerodha.
He claims that “there has been no change in becoming a billionaire.” I am still the man who works 85% of the day and lives with insecurity. Both brothers have touched the pinnacle of success. He was ranked among the 100 richest in India in Forbes’ 2020 list.
