BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 23. Russia
welcomes any initiatives that may help efforts to normalize
relations between Baku and Yerevan, the primary factor is to keep away from
duplication and competitors among the many mediation efforts undertaken,
stated Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Galuzin in an
interview with TASS, Trend experiences.
“We welcome any initiatives that may help efforts
to normalize relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. As I’ve
already stated, the reconciliation of Baku and Yerevan is predicated on a
set of trilateral agreements between the leaders of Russia,
Azerbaijan and Armenia. I’m referring to measures to unblock
transport and financial ties, delimit the border, strengthen belief
by way of contacts with public figures and specialists, and put together a
peace treaty,” he stated, answering the query on Russia’s perspective
towards Egypt’s mediation between Yerevan and Baku.
He added that the primary factor is to keep away from duplication
and competitors among the many mediation efforts undertaken and to
obtain their interplay and cooperation.
“It is on this vein that we understand the initiative of
such a big and influential nation as Egypt to help the peace
course of between Baku and Yerevan,” Galuzin added.
Earlier, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi stated
that Egypt is able to turn out to be a mediator between Armenia and
Azerbaijan to normalize relations between these nations.
