The family of a woman who accused BJP leader Ramesh Jarkiholi of sexual harassment on Saturday accused Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar of leaking a video of the woman along with the former Minister of State to take ‘political revenge’. The victim’s family also appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case.
The woman’s brother told reporters in Bengaluru, “We have spoken to the SIT officers and have given our statement. We have an audio clipping of my sister, in which she tells us that she is at DK Shivkumar’s house and he is sending her to a safe place far out of the state. We have given a clip to SIT. It is not right to make videos like this and use a woman to take political revenge.
The woman’s father said that his daughter is being used for “dirty politics”. We want our daughter back home. She came home on 5 February, but after 2 March, she spoke to us on the phone.
Bengaluru Police registers FIR against Ramesh Jarkiholi
The Bangalore Police has now registered an FIR against Ramesh Jarkiholi. In fact, the woman seen in the alleged video has lodged a complaint against the former minister at the Kabban Park police station with the Bengaluru Police Commissioner through her lawyer on Friday. Kabban Park Police has registered an FIR against former minister Jarkiholi under sections 354-A, 417, 506, 504, and 376-C of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 67-A of the Information Technology Act.
The victim woman made this charge
Mahil has said in her complaint that she had come to Bangalore in search of a job and went to meet the then minister Ramesh Jarkiholi for this. He said, “Former minister Ramesh Jarkiholi promised him a government job and started calling me daily. The minister said that if I accept all his things, he will get me a government job. ” The woman said that on the pretext, the former minister called her home and sexually harassed her and also made a video.
Allegations of sexual abuse on the pretext of giving jobs
On March 2, a social worker alleged that the minister exploited her on the pretext of giving her a job. Soon, the objectionable video was made viral and news channels started airing parts of it. Following this allegation, Jarkiholi had to resign as a minister on March 3. However, a few days after the allegation, the social worker announced the withdrawal of his complaint.
Ramesh Jarkiholi told a big conspiracy
Jarkiholi claimed that it was a big conspiracy against him, which involved very large people. He, however, refused to name the conspirators. However, he resigned from the post of Water Resources Minister on moral grounds. At the same time, on March 13, the Bangalore Police had registered a case of conspiracy and blackmail against unknown persons based on the complaint of Ramesh Jarkiholi. Instead of contacting the police directly to hand over a copy of his complaint, the former minister sent his confidant MV Nagaraj to the Sadashivanagar police station.
