BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 16. A minute
of silence was noticed in reminiscence of the earthquake victims on the
Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in
Ankara, Türkiye, Trend studies.

The occasion was initially as a consequence of be held in Shusha.
However, following the devastating earthquake in Türkiye, President
Ilham Aliyev put ahead a proposal to carry the Summit in Ankara in
an effort to help the brotherly nation. After coordination of
the matter with the leaders of different taking part nations, the

the Azerbaijan-Türkiye brotherhood, in addition to an indication of mutual
help and respect within the Turkic world.

Devoted to the theme of “Disaster-Emergency Management
and Humanitarian Assistance”, the Summit will function a high-level
platform for the dialogue of the extraordinary agenda of the
Organization aroused as a result of latest earthquake catastrophe occurred
in southern and southeastern areas of Türkiye. The leaders will
elaborate on devising strong multilateral cooperation and
coordination mechanisms throughout the framework of the Organization in
the battle towards disasters in addition to maintain consultations on
present challenges within the area.

The highly effective earthquake hit southeastern Türkiye on
Feb. 6, 2023. The quake occurred at a depth of seven kilometers in
the Pazarcik area of Kahramanmaras Province.

The provinces of Hatay, Gaziantep, Kilis, Osmaniye,
Malatya, Adiyaman, Sanliurfa, Diyarbakir, Adana and Kahramanmaras
had been subjected to extreme destruction. The quake’s epicenter was
situated 26 km away from town of Gaziantep with a inhabitants of
about 1.06 million.
