A police officer said preliminary investigations indicated that Mudassir Pandit, a local Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist and a foreign terrorist, was involved in the attack.

On Monday, militants shot dead a member of the Block Development Council (BDS) and their personal security personnel at Sopore in Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir. police gave this information. Police said that the unidentified gunman entered the Sopore Municipality complex around 1.15pm on Monday afternoon and shot Independent BDC member Riyaz Ahmed and his security personnel Shafqat Ahmed. He said that Riyaz and Shafqat died on the spot. Council meeting was going on at the time of the incident.

Officials said that another member, Shamshuddin Pir, was also injured in the terror attack. Pir has a bullet in his thigh and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Zone) Vijay Kumar held a review meeting with senior security officials of the area after visiting the spot. Kumar has instructed to keep four policemen posted in the private security of the persons provided security suspended till further investigation related to negligence during the attack.

Lashkar-e-Taiba involved in local terrorist attack

A police officer said preliminary investigations indicated that Mudassir Pandit, a local Lashkar-e-Taiba militant and a foreign terrorist were involved in the attack. He said, “Further investigation is going on. The IG of Kashmir has instructed the SSP of Sopore to keep four private security personnel suspended. A search operation is under siege at various places to catch the terrorists. ”

Political parties strongly condemned the attack

Meanwhile, mainstream political parties have strongly condemned the attack. National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said in a tweet, “There is a news of a terrorist attack on the Municipal Office in Sopore. I strongly condemn this attack. My condolences to the family of the dead and wish the injured well soon. ”

Condemning the attack, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee called it a shameful act. BJP state unit president Ravindra Raina said that there has been a lot of bloodshed in Kashmir and when the state is trying to progress, then the terrorist organizations and their bosses have gone mad.
