The Congress (Congress) on Monday targeted the ruling Left government in Kerala (Kerala). The Congress alleged that there is some nexus between the BJP-led NDA and the ruling LDF government in the state, which has led to a case of smuggling of gold against the Chief Minister, his three cabinet colleagues and the Speaker of the Assembly No FIR has been registered. Congress General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala said that the investigation into the smuggling case had reached the doorstep of Chief Minister P. Vijayan.
He claimed that not only the Chief Minister but his three cabinet colleagues and the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly have been named by the main accused in the case, Swapna Suresh. Surjewala underlined that the investigating agencies arrested Vijayan’s former Principal Secretary. “But Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government neither filed an FIR against the Chief Minister nor took action against him in the gold smuggling case,” he told reporters.
‘What kind of special relationship with PM Modi?’
The Congress leader wanted to know what kind of special relationship Vijayan has with Modi which is preventing central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate from taking action against the Chief Minister, three ministers and the Speaker of the Assembly. Surjewala alleged that it seems that there is a nexus between the CPI (M) and the BJP.

At the same time, the Kerala government has requested the High Court to dismiss the Enforcement Directorate (ED) petition for forcing Swapna Suresh, the main accused in the gold smuggling case, to make a statement against Chief Minister P. Vijayan. In this case, the police has been requested to cancel the FIR lodged against the ED officials.
In a counter affidavit, the state government said that the ED’s petition has been filed with ‘secret motive’ and ‘secret agenda’. The ED, in a petition filed on March 23, alleged that the ‘secret motive’ of derailing the statutory investigation under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on a large-scale economic crime in the case of smuggling gold in large quantities. An FIR has been lodged against his unidentified officials.
