On May 17, Reliance Jio Infocomm announced that the company is building India’s largest international submarine cable system. Reliance Jio will install two next generation cables to support the growing demand for data in India. The project will be completed in partnership with several global companies and Subcom, is a worldwide leader in cable supply.
Both these cable projects, India-Asia-Express (IAX) and India-Europe-Express (IEX) will connect India to Singapore and India to the Middle East and Europe. In such a situation, India will connect with Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia in the east and will connect with countries like Egypt, Djibouti and Saudi Arabia in the west and connect with Italy. The two cable systems will interconnect and will be connected to global data interchange points. The company said, “IAX and IEX will enhance the ability for consumers and users to access data in and outside India as well as cloud services.”
Customers will no longer have problems with the network
According to a statement, “For the first time in the history of fiber optic submarine telecom, this system has brought an international network map to India.” Both cable systems will operate in a range of over 16,000 km and will offer high speed capacities to the region. IEX and IAX are expected to have a capacity of over 200Tbps.
