Finance Minister Amit Mitra thanked him for convening the 43rd meeting of the GST Council and also urged that the essential items used for the treatment of Corona be excluded from the purview of GST.

GST on Corona Treatment

The West Bengal government has requested Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to be exempted from customs and GST on equipment, drugs and vaccines used to treat COVID-19. Also expressed happiness about calling 43rd meeting of GST. In fact in this round of Corona, many important decisions are being expected in this important meeting of the GST Council. Therefore, this meeting to be held on May 28 is considered very important.

In a letter sent to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, State Finance Minister Amit Mitra thanked him for calling the 43rd meeting of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council and also urged that it is necessary to treat Corona. Goods should be excluded from the purview of GST.

They have demanded from PM Modi as well

West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra also said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 9 asking him to do all kinds of taxes on all kinds of devices and medicines used in the fight against the COVID epidemic and It was requested to remove the customs duty, but nothing has progressed on this.

GST meeting will be monitored

West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra hoped that the GST Council would work beyond the technical and bureaucratic hurdles that come in the way of resolving the current crisis. At this time, the whole country is eyeing the council to get relief. Actually, this meeting of the GST Council is considered to be important in view of Corona.

The meeting is going to be held on May 28

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is the chairperson of the GST Council while representatives of all the states and union territories are also involved in it. A meeting of the council has been called on 28 May. Earlier, on May 12, Mitra had written a letter to the Finance Minister, urging him to convene an online meeting of the GST Council.
