Top-3 contestants get an opportunity to work with the research and innovation team of TCS and also get a reward of 15 lakhs each.

The coding contest ‘contest CodeVita’ is organized every year by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the country’s largest IT company. The special thing is that thousands of people are getting jobs every year with the help of this contest. This contest has also made its place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Since 2014, 11112 offers have been made through it.

In the year 2020, the ninth edition of ‘contest CodeVita’ was organized and through this, 3417 people were employed. Top-3 contestants were included in the research and innovation team of TCS. Apart from this, he also got a reward of 20-20 thousand dollars (about 15 lakh rupees). For the last two years, 250 students selected through this contest have also got an opportunity to do internship with TCS.

Tech companies lead the way

Tech companies have been following such paths in the last few years to develop their developer community. In 2017, Google acquired Kaggle, an online community of data scientists and machine learning practitioners. Similarly, in 2018, Microsoft acquired Github for $ 7.5 billion. In 2016, Wipro acquired Topcoder for $ 500 million. There are about 1.5 million coders associated with the topcoder.

TCS organizes four contests every year

TCS Chief Technical Officer K Ananth said that the winners of Kodavita work with the Specialist Group of Research and Innovation of TCS. Their job is to convert their thinking and innovation into coding. This program was first started in 2012 in the country’s premium institute IITs. At present, four flagship contests are organized by TCS. CodeVita, EngiNX, the engineering design and IoT contest and HackQuest.
