In this time of crisis, the demand for oxygen concentrator is like medicine and keeping in mind the situation, the government is also giving many discounts on it. In this regard, the government on Saturday reduced the IGST on the import of oxygen concentrator for personal use from 28 per cent to 12 per cent. This deduction has been done till 30 June.
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) tweeted, “IGST on import of oxygen concentrator for personal use has been reduced from 28% to 12%”. The latest rate will be applicable till 30 June. The government last month waived customs duty on the import of oxygen, oxygen concentrator and related equipment useful in medical operations.
An oxygen concentrator is a machine that does not require oxygen to be filled, but this machine generates oxygen on its own. It separates nitrogen from normal air to produce a gas with a lot of oxygen. With the pipe in the machine, it reaches the patients with shortness of breath and gets comfortable. It can look like a portable trolley or it can look like the size of a computer or a small water purifier. Companies prepare it in different models.
