To give relief to the people during the Corona period, the Delhi and UP governments have taken an important decision. Now, free food grains will be distributed to people without ration cards.
In order to ensure that the poor do not have problems of eating and drinking during the Corona period, the central government announced a free ration for ration card holders in May and June under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. On the lines of this, the government of Delhi and UP have made another announcement. Under which people can take the benefit of free food grains even without a ration card. For this, they have to contact their nearest ration center vendor.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, while giving relief to the people on Tuesday, announced that people will be able to take free ration from ration shops in the capital even without ration cards. This scheme will be fully implemented in the next three to four days. Similarly, Yogi Government of UP also announced to distribute food grains to the needy people of the state for free. In this regard, Chief Secretary Revenue Renuka Kumar said that ration cards have not been made, by running their campaigns, cards will be given and ration will be given immediately.
72 lakh card holders are getting free grain
According to the Delhi government, about 72 lakh card holders are being distributed free rations for May and June. Each ration card holder is given 5 kg of grains. For example, if the names of 4 family members are registered in a ration card, then everyone is being given 5–5 kg, that is, total 20 kg of food grains.
Who can take food grains without a ration card
According to the government, people who are financially weak can also get free food without ration cards. For this, they have to go to the nearest ration center. You will have to enter your name there. If they are found eligible then they will get the benefit of the scheme.
How to get a ration card
Applications can be made both online and offline to make a ration card. If you apply on digital platform, then you have to visit https://nfsa.gov.in/portal/apply_ration_card. Here, you have to attach a scan copy of the required documents like Aadhar card, PAN card, residence certificate, passport size photo, etc. along with the application form. To apply offline, you can take its form from the Gram Panchayat office. Fill the name of the head of the family and all the members in the form. Put a picture of your entire family and a copy of other important documents. Also give an affidavit. On submitting the form, you will get a receipt. When your name will be included in the ration card list, then you can take the ration card by going to your nearest control.
