The brandband facility of Elon Musk’s company Starlink, which claims to provide better internet speed, has been under threat. Its pre-booking services can be discontinued in India. The company is accused of not following the rules properly.
Space Broadband Company Starlink
Starlink, the space broadband company of Elon Musk, which revolutionized the Internet world through satellite, has received a setback before its launch in India. Its pre-booking services may be discontinued. According to the Regulatory Bodies of India, it can be banned due to non-compliance with the guidelines of the company.
TV Ramachandran, chairman of industry bodies representing Amazon, Facebook, Hughes, Google and Microsoft, says that SpaceX does not have official permission to provide such services in India. Apart from this, Elon Musk’s company also does not have satellite frequency authorization from ISRO and Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to provide beta services in the country. In such a situation, service cannot be started in India.
Co-commercial launch is not possible
The Broadband India Forum (BIF) appealed to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) to stop selling the beta version to Elon Musk’s company SpaceX. According to the report, Starlink does not have its own ground or earth station in India. Also, it does not have official permission nor are the rules being followed by the company. Right now it is in the testing phase of Communication Services. In such a situation, it cannot be launched commercially.
The service was to be launched in 2022
Elon Musk’s space broadband company Starlink’s Internet service was to be launched in India in the year 2022. For this, the company started its services for pre-booking in India at the end of February, but now it is facing hurdles from the regulatory body of India. The company claimed to provide users with much better service than other satellites. According to the company, Starlink satellites are 60 times closer to the Earth than traditional satellites. In such a situation, users can get better video calling and gaming facilities even in low latency.
