DoT sends notice to Vodafone Idea, accusations of not depositing license fee

Notice has been sent to Vodafone Idea Limited (VI) by the Department of Telecommunications. In this, it has been said that some circles are not paid on time by the company.

In the fourth quarter of the last financial year, the DoT (Vodafone Idea) Vodafone Idea Ltd. for non-payment of license fee and spectrum usage fee in some circles. (VIL) has been sent a show cause notice. It has been said not to pay on time. However, the company says that it has already paid all the payments.

According to the PTI report, action has been taken against the company for not fulfilling the relevant provisions of the license agreement till April 12, 2021 in the notice sent by the Department of Telecommunications. In this connection, a copy of a notice has also been sent by the department to different media institutions. In which it was told that for the first three quarters, the telecom companies have to pay the license fee within 15 days of the end of the respective quarter. At the same time, the license fee for the fourth quarter has to be paid by 25 March. But the fee was not paid by Vodafone Idea Limited on time, due to which a show cause notice has been issued.

According to the notice, the company has not paid the national long distance license fee for the fourth quarter of 2020-21 along with Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh (East), Odisha till 25 March.

At the same time, sources associated with the company said that the license fee and spectrum usage fee for the quarter ended March 2021 was paid only last month. If there is any difference in the payment, it will also be completed within the stipulated time. However, no official statement has been made about this by the company yet.
