A case has been registered in the Southern District Court of New York for seizing the property of Air India.
DIPAM says that this will not affect its sales.
In the tax dispute case, Cairn Energy has filed a case in the US court against Air India. Will this affect the sales of this national carrier in any way, this is an important question. For the time being, a statement was issued by the government that it will not have any effect on the sale of the airline. The DIPAM official told the Times of India that we are confident that the matter will not have any impact on the disinvestment of Air India.
A case has been registered in the Southern District Court of New York for seizing the property of Air India. In this, it has been said on behalf of Cairn that Air India should be made responsible for the arrears. Here, on the action taken by the British company Cairn Energy, the Government of India says that it wants to pressurize the Government of India to withdraw its money under the decision of International Arbitration. This is the reason why the company has taken this step. According to the report, Cairn Energy has identified foreign assets of companies like BPCL, Shipping Corporation, BEML, besides Air India. The government has advised all these companies not to panic.
Has identified assets worth 5 lakh crores
Let us know that after winning the International Court of Justice in the tax dispute case, Cairn Energy has fallen badly behind the government for its money. The Government of India has to return $ 1.72 billion (about 12 thousand crores) to it. According to the information, Cairn Energy has identified more than $ 70 billion (more than 5 lakh crores) of assets of the Government of India abroad. Cairn Energy has identified assets such as Air India Plane, Shipping Corporation of India ships, foreign assets of state-run banks, Oil and Gas Cargo of PSU.
Corona currently slows down the process
Regarding the privatization of Air India, Deepam says that due to Corona’s new wave, there has been some hindrance in this process. Right now the physical meeting is not being held, due to which it is delayed. Deepam officials say that we expected this process to be expedited within two months of the current financial year, but the epidemic has turned water on it at the moment. The government will privatize Air India, BPCL this financial year. Through this, the government hopes to earn more than 1.10 lakh crores.
