The Punjab government has extended the deadline for implementing the new pay scales of employees under the Sixth Pay Commission. Employees unions are dissatisfied with this.

Central employees had been waiting for an increased salary for a long time. He hoped that from July, he would get the benefit of this, but his aspirations seem to be floundering. In fact, due to the non-preparation of the second report of the Sixth Pay Commission, the Punjab government has extended its deadline. Now the report of the commission will not be implemented till August 31. In such a situation, the employees will have to wait a little longer for the increased salary.

Unhappy with this decision of the government, the employees’ organizations are making up their mind to oppose it. According to him, the government is deliberately delaying the implementation of the recommendations and implementation of the new pay scale. In the last announcement, the government had talked about giving increased salary to the employees till July, but now its deadline has been extended.

As soon as the report is implemented, the salary of employees can increase by more than two times. This means that if the minimum salary is Rs 6,950, then it can increase to Rs 18,000 per month.

It has been recommended by the commission to increase other key allowances from 1.5 times to 2 times. It is said that the report was submitted to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh recently, the report will be presented to the cabinet this month for further action.

A spokesperson of the CM’s office had told last time that a significant increase in pension and DA has been proposed by the commission. Apart from this, it has been recommended to double the fixed medical allowance and death-cum-retirement gratuity under the Sixth Pay Commission. For the pensioners along with the employees, a demand was made to increase this benefit from Rs 1,000 per month to Rs 2,000. Apart from this, a proposal has been sent to increase the maximum limit of death-cum-retirement gratuity from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.
