Private and public banks will remain closed for a total of 9 days in the second month or May (May) of the new financial year 2021-22. 5 days will be closed due to various bank holidays. Apart from holidays, banks are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Therefore, if we add Saturdays and Sundays, in May 2021, banks will be closed for a total of 9 days. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) website, the bank holidays in May 2021 include various festivals such as Maharashtra Day, Ramadan, Buddha Purnima etc.
Explain that due to the increasing cases of COVID-19 infection in the country, the way of functioning in banks has changed. Facilities have been limited to protect employees of banks located in the Corona zone from infection. With this, the working hours of banks have been reduced to 4 hours in many states. Banks will open in Uttar Pradesh from 10 am to 2 pm from today till 15 May. Banks will be closed at 4 pm.

>> May 1 – May 1 is Maharashtra Day / May Day (Labor Day). Banks will be closed on this day in Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram.
>> May 7 – On the occasion of Jumat-ul-Vida, there will be bank closures in Jammu and Srinagar.
>> 13 May- Ramadan on this day is Eid (Eid-ul-Fitr). Banks will not operate in Belapur, Jammu, Kochi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram.
>> 14 May- Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun on the occasion of Bhagwan Shri Parashuram Jayanti / Ramadan-Eid (Eid-UI-Fitra) / Basava Jayanti and Akshaya Tritiya , Banks will be closed in Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, New Delhi, Patna, Panaji, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong and Shimla.
>> 26 May- Banks will be closed in Agartalla, Belapur, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla and Srinagar on the day of Buddha Pournima.
