Azerbaijani Ombudsman addresses letter to move of General Inspection Organization of Iran

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 30.
Azerbaijan’s Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Sabina
Aliyeva has despatched an official letter to the Head of the General
Inspection Organization of Iran, Zabihullah Khodaeian, Trend stories by way of the
workplace of the Ombudsman.

In the letter, Sabina Aliyeva strongly condemned the
terrorist assault dedicated in opposition to the Embassy of the Republic of
Azerbaijan in Tehran on January 27, 2023, and delivered to consideration
the violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations,
1961, and the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes
in opposition to Internationally Protected Persons, together with Diplomatic
Agents, 1973.

The Azerbaijani Ombudsman referred to as on the human rights
group of Iran to take the mandatory and pressing measures
inside its powers to deliver to justice the individuals who organized and
participated within the fee of this treacherous assault as quickly
as potential.

An armed assault occurred on the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran
on January 27, 2023, at about 8:30 (GMT+4). The gunman turned out
to be a person in his 50’s, who drove as much as the executive
constructing, armed with a Kalashnikov automated rifle.

Earlier stories from the Chief of Tehran police stated there have been
two youngsters within the automotive with the gunman, the safety digicam footage launched later proved the
man was alone. He entered the constructing after briefly waving hand to
the Iranian safety guard exterior. No makes an attempt have been made to detain
the gunman, as he freely entered the embassy. The man managed to
kill head of the safety service and wounding two embassy guards.
The shooter was finally detained. The incident is at present
being investigated.

Following the lethal assault, Azerbaijan evacuated its officers
from the embassy, together with those that suffered because of the
assault and fully suspended the work of the embassy in
Tehran.
