Amazon India, the leading e-commerce company, will bear the cost of the COVID-19 vaccine for over 1 million people in India. This would include its Indian employees, affiliates and active vendors listed after last year. In addition it will also include an operational partner network of Amazon Flex Drivers, I Have Space (IHS) store partners, trucking partners and their eligible dependents, as well as Delivery Service Partner partners.

COVID-19 vaccination in the country is now available to people above 45 years of age. The company is encouraging all those eligible people to get vaccinated for their own safety and those around them.

Amazon’s initiative is in addition to an investment of $ 2.5 billion last year for special bonuses and incentives for its teams globally. The company has invested a total of $ 11.5 billion on COVID-19 related measures.

Amit Agarwal, Senior Vice President and Country Manager, Amazon India, said, “It was good to see last year how our team, vendors and partners worked in the challenging situation created by COVID-19 in the country.” “We have seen a lot of innovation and the most important thing is that there is a lot of enthusiasm among our teams to serve the people of the country and keep the customers safe,” he said.

Aggarwal said that the health and safety of our teams and partners is a top priority for Amazon. He said, ‘We are encouraging eligible persons to get vaccinated. We will bear the cost of vaccination to ensure the safety of our employees, partners, network of operational partners, vendors and their eligible dependents. ‘

Last month, the Foodtech sector-major Swiggy said that it is committed to get COVID-19 vaccinated to all its delivery partners at 100% of the cost. Swiggy’s delivery network has more than 2 lakh delivery partners with its presence in around 500 cities of the country.
