Ayodhya Mosque donation: A big news is coming out regarding the construction of a mosque in Ayodhya. Those who are giving donations for the construction of the mosque there, they have been given tax exemption. In the Babri Masjid-Ramjanmabhoomi dispute, the Supreme Court has given 5 acres of land separately for the construction of the mosque. In the year 2020, a similar exemption was announced for those who donated to the construction of Ram temple.
After making the Ram temple construction donation tax-free, an appeal was filed by the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF) to make the donation tax-free for the construction of the mosque. The chairman of this foundation, Zafar Farooqui, said that an appeal was filed in this regard on September 1, 2020. It was demanded that the donation should be brought under section 80G of the Income Tax Act. The case was rejected on 21 January 2021. This appeal was filed again on 3 February.
Tax benefit under section 80G
Under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, the benefit of tax deduction is available on donations made to relief funds, charitable organizations. This amount is subtracted from gross income. So far IICF has received a donation of 20 lakhs.
