The Income Tax Department has allowed some forms to be filled manually this week. A week after the launch of the new e-filing portal for filing tax, this approval has been given amid technical glitches persisting. The IT department has issued a circular allowing banks to hand-fill Form 15CA/15CB (Required for sending money abroad) with the bank till June 30 so that the business transactions continue smoothly. These forms will later be uploaded on the e-filing portal.
The new portal www.incometax.gov.in was launched on 7th June. The Income Tax Department and the government said that its objective is to make compliance more easy for taxpayers. Complaints of technical problems in the work on the portal started coming from the very first day itself. Complaints persist even after a week. According to Chartered Accountants, taxpayers are not able to view their e-filed returns last time. Many features have not started yet. It is being written on it that ‘Coming Soon’ means it will start soon.
Forms can be filled by hand
In a statement, the Income Tax Department said, “In view of the problems faced by the taxpayers in filling the Income Tax Form 15CA/15CB (15CA/15CB) on the portal, it has been decided that the taxpayer will submit this form to the authorized dealers by June 30.” can be filled in ‘Manual’ format.

The IT department has also advised that authorized dealers will accept these forms till June 30, 2021 for remittances abroad. According to the statement, the facility to upload these forms for the purpose of generating the Document Identification Number will be provided later.
