Although sovereign gold bonds mature in eight years, it can be redeemed after five years. Pre-mature redemption facility is available every six months. Earlier, the five-year tenure of the Sovereign Gold Bond was completed in November 2020 itself, for which the next payment date is May 29. Capital gains are completely tax free on SGB. However, this rule applies to maturity.
You can invest in sovereign gold bonds from May 31
Here the third installment of the Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme will open between May 31 and June 4. The issue price of the third series has been fixed at Rs 4,889 per gram. Let us tell you that the price of Gold Bond was Rs 4,777 for the first installment and Rs 4,842 per gram for the second installment. On digital payment, investors will get a discount of Rs 50 per gram on the issue price. Earlier, the government had announced the issuance of Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGB) in six phases from May 2021 to September 2021.
