Recently, a report from IIT Bombay came in which said that large public sector banks including SBI have recovered hundreds of crores in the name of Basic Savings Account. Whether banks are in the public sector or private, a hefty amount is collected from customers in the name of every service. This includes all types of services including balance check, mini statement, withdrawal, taking new ATM card. In this article, we know about the charges levied on such service.
Keeping in mind the corona epidemic from 11 March 2020, based on the information available on the SBI website, the bank has waived the charge for not keeping the minimum average balance. Apart from this, the service charge was revised on 1 October 2019. According to this, 50 multi-city checks are given free in a financial year for a current account. After that, a check is available for 3 rupees per check, GST is separately. This limit and charge are different for different types of current accounts. Savings account holders get 10 checks free in a financial year. 10 checkbooks get 40 rupees and 25 checkbooks get 75 rupees. GST charge is separately. Senior citizens and salary accounts also get this for free. Charges for stopping any future payments are between 100-500 rupees. GST separately.
Monthly average balance currently waived
As stated earlier, the minimum average balance charge has now been waived. For information, let us know that MAB is Rs 3000 for Metro and Urban Center Branch, Rs 2000 for Semi Urban Branch, Rs 1000 for Rural Branch. Earlier the MAB charge used to be up to 5-15 rupees.
Account closure charge
Talking about the account statement, a monthly statement is free for the current account. The charge for duplicate statement is 100 rupees. The duplicate passbook charge is 100 rupees. Talking about the saving account closure charge, the account closure charge is zero within 14 days of opening. After 14 days, within 1 year it is 500 rupees and GST separately. After 1 year the account is cloture free. After 14 days, the current account closure charge is 1000 rupees. For 1-5 years this charge is 500 rupees. GST is separately in both cases.
NEFT visiting branch, how much is RTGS charge?
If doing NEFT, RTGS, IMPS transactions with the help of net banking, mobile banking or YONO mobile app then it is completely free. However, charges are levied on such transactions by going to the branch. If you go to the branch and do NEFT transactions, then you will get Rs 2 to 10 thousand, Rs 4 from 10 thousand to 1 lakh, 12 rupees for 1-2 lakhs and Rs 20 will be charged for doing more than 2 lakh transactions. GST seems to be different. For RTGS going to the branch, the charge for 2-5 lakh is 20 rupees and the charge is 40 rupees for doing more than 5 lakh transactions.
Charge for withdrawal and deposit
Talking about cash withdrawal and deposit related charges, it is free to deposit thrice in a month for a savings account in which a Surabhi saving account is available. After that it costs 50 rupees per transaction. There is no charge for transfer of debit card to debit linked account with the help of cash deposit machine. There is a charge of Rs 22 for third party account transfer with debit card, Rs 22 for cardless transactions.
Deposit charge for home-non-home branch
There is no charge for small and no frill deposits for withdrawing cash at home branch and non-home branch. It depends on monthly average balance. Up to 25 thousand at home branch, cash withdrawal is free for MAB 2 times a month. You can withdraw unlimited times free of cost cash for 25-50 thousand MAB, 10 times for 50 thousand to 1 lakh MAB and 15 times if the balance is above 1 lakh. All types of unlimited transactions are free for internet and mobile banking.
How is charge charged on ATM transactions
Savings account holders get free financial and non-financial transactions from ATMs on the basis of monthly average balance. If someone’s MAB is up to 25 thousand then 5 free transactions can be done in their ATMs 5 times in a month, in other bank ATMs 3 times a month in metro city and in other cities five free transactions can be done. If the monthly average balance is between 25-50 thousand, then unlimited transactions can be done from the ATMs of your network. In metro cities, 3 transactions can be done from ATMs of other banks and 5 in non-metro cities. Despite having an average balance of up to 1 lakh, financial and non-financial transactions in metro cities and 5 in other cities can be made free of cost from other banks’ ATMs. With more than 1 lakh MAB, unlimited transactions can be done at any ATM along with its network.
Charge for Limiting Crash
On crossing the limit, the cash withdrawal from ATMs of other banks is Rs 20 per transaction and GST, Rs 8 for non-financial transactions and Rs 20 for transactions failing in case of insufficient balance. At SBI ATM, this charge is Rs 10 per extra transaction after the limit, Rs 5 for non-financial transactions and Rs 20 for insufficient balance.
How does the locker charge
Talk about the locker charge SBI is divided into small, medium, large, XL based on the locker charge size. Charges for this start from Rs 1000 to Rs 9000. Rural and urban areas have different charges for the same size. The one-time locker registration charge is Rs 500 for small medium and Rs 1000 for lodges and XL.
