OSLO — Norsk Hydro will provide Mercedes-Benz with low-carbon aluminum for a variety of fashions from 2023, together with its electrical EQ fashions, because the automaker plans to decarbonize its provide chain, the businesses stated.

Mercedes, which already makes use of Hydro-supplied parts, goals to achieve near-zero carbon aluminum by the top of 2030 and targets halving its CO2 emissions by 2030 and turning into CO2-neutral by 2039.

“This is an important signal to accelerate change in the aluminum industry and increase the availability of low carbon aluminum,” Markus Schäfer, Mercedes’s chief know-how officer, stated within the assertion.
