The Legal Service System accounts for USD $150 Billion in India. According to written replies submitted by the Ministry of Law & Justice in Parliament September 2020, “India has almost 4 crore pending cases spanning the Supreme Court, various High Courts and the numerous district and subordinate courts”. As of Feb 1, 2020, there are 3.65 crore unresolved litigations in India.

Indian judicial system has been afflicted with backlogs; wherein approximately 24 million court hearings are conducted every month pan India, serving almost 48 million individuals. The litigation process in India is a highly document-intensive task that involves a great amount of time and money. Digitization of the legal industry today is not only the need of the hour but also offers a solution to address or at least changing the problem of access to justice by reforming our conventional legal system.

While eight hours a day and 48 hours a week constitute a normal working period, judges generally work from 10.30 am to 4.00 pm with an hour of lunch break. These working hours are further marred on Mondays and Fridays every week on account of it being a miscellaneous day. Insufficient judicial manpower working four hours a day for 190 days a year, cannot guarantee timely disposal of new inflow of cases, what with a massive backlog already at hand.

In order to streamline the same, LegalKart, India’s leading 24X7 totally confidential and unbiased legal advisory app for legal professionals. Growing at 25% on a Month on Month (MoM) basis, the company also came up with its first-of-its-kind feature ‘Second Opinion’ which is gaining a lot of traction and making the processes easier, simpler and faster.
